Nader Pouratian, MD PhD
Dr Nader Pouratian is Professor and Chairman of Neurological Surgery and holds the Lois C.A. and Darwin E. Smith Distinguished Chair in Neurological Surgery at UT Southwestern. His clinical practice focuses on surgeries to restore functional and enhance quality of life for patients with neurological and psychiatric disease. In particular, his practice focuses on the surgical treatment of movement disorders such as Parkinson disease and essential tremor, surgical management of facial pain, and peripheral nerve disorders. His innovative NIH-funded research uses unique opportunities provided be neurosurgical interventions to better understand the human brain and to develop novel surgical therapies to enhance function. His research program includes investigating and developing new surgical interventions for movement disorders, depression, consciousness, and blindness.
