- Personal Statement
I have been a faculty member in Urology at UTSW since 1978. I have extensive clinical and translational research experience in Urologic Oncology with focus on bladder and kidney cancer, and renal transplantation. I have participated in numerous multicenter clinical trials in urologic oncology. Previously I led an investigator initiated collaborative project on characterization of predictive molecular biomarkers in bladder cancer. Currently I am a coinvestigator in the Kidney Cancer SPORE at UTSW. I have extensive involvement in medical education for urologists, residents, fellows, and now for medical students in my role as Master of Cary College. I recently was inducted as one of two urology charter Members of the ACS Academy of Master Surgeon Educators. I have been a frequent speaker and representative of AUA in numerous positions in the US and internationally.
