Azra Idrizovic, DO, FAOCO

Dr. Azra Idrizovic is a fellowship trained and board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in the medical and surgical management of glaucoma and complex cataracts. Dr. Idrizovic obtained her medical degree at the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine. She then went on to complete her internship and residency training in Ophthalmology at St. John’s Episcopal Hospital in Far Rockaway, New York, where she served as chief resident during her senior year. Dr. Idrizovic completed her glaucoma fellowship at the world-renowned Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in South Florida. Throughout her residency and fellowship, she was involved in research pertaining to the evaluation and management of glaucoma filtering blebs as well as rates of patch graft erosion in patients with glaucoma drainage devices. Dr. Idrizovic was awarded a research support grant; she also went on to present her work at several national meetings including American Glaucoma Society and Association of Research in Vision and Ophthalmology.
Dr. Idrizovic is skilled in the medical and surgical treatment of glaucoma. She performs traditional as well as minimally invasive glaucoma surgery. She is also skilled in the surgical management of complex cataracts.
Dr. Idrizovic is available at both Glaucoma Center of Texas locations in Dallas and Rockwall. She is interested in providing the best possible care for her patients, while continuing to be involved in innovative research, as well as teaching and training the next generation of ophthalmologists.
Outside of work, Dr. Idrizovic’s interests include spending time outdoors with her husband and two daughters. She enjoys hiking, biking, is an avid skier, loves to travel and explore different culinary cuisines.
