Matthew Emanuel, M.D.
Dr. Emanuel completed his undergraduate training at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) in molecular biology and graduated as a member of the Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society. During his undergraduate studies, Dr. Emanuel studied in Granada, Spain where he became fluent in Spanish language. He subsequently pursued his medical degree at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine where he received the prestigious J. Donald Gass Ophthalmology Award upon graduation.
Dr. Emanuel completed his residency in ophthalmology at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. While at the Emory Eye Center, Dr. Emanuel was appointed as Chief Resident in Ophthalmology for two consecutive years. As Chief Resident, he played an active role in medical student and resident education. Dr. Emanuel’s clinical, surgical, and research interests in glaucoma and cataracts led him to a world class clinical glaucoma fellowship at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami, Florida. After his fellowship, Dr. Emanuel moved to Dallas, TX to join the Glaucoma Associates of Texas (GAT), the largest private practice glaucoma practice in the United States. Apart from his clinical and surgical practice, Dr. Emanuel continues to be involved in clinical trials as both Principal and sub-investigator.
Outside of ophthalmology, Dr. Emanuel and his wife enjoy traveling and spoiling their nieces and nephews!
