Angela Shippy, MD, FACP, FHM
Angela A. Shippy, M.D., FACP, FHM, is Senior Vice President and Chief Quality Officer of the Memorial Hermann Health System where she has oversight for laboratory services, pharmacy services, clinical quality, patient safety, infection prevention, accreditation, registry reporting, clinical quality review, quality data management, performance improvement methodology training along with lab and pharmacy across all Memorial Hermann hospitals. In this role, she works to advance Memorial Hermann’s uncompromising commitment to high reliability while providing patients with the best possible outcomes.
Prior to Memorial Hermann, Dr. Shippy served as HCA’s Gulf Coast Division Chief Medical Officer, where she was the primary liaison between the physician and administrative teams at the Division’s ten hospitals throughout Houston, Corpus Christi and South Texas. Her guidance on quality initiatives, clinical effectiveness, technology integration, talent acquisition, and capital improvements strengthened the position of each healthcare facility in its respective community and improved efficiencies across the Division.
Before HCA, Dr. Shippy served as Vice President of Medical Affairs at St. Luke’s Episcopal Hospital in The Texas Medical Center, where she previously practiced as a hospitalist. She earned a bachelor’s degree in biology from Texas A&M University and a Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, where she also completed her residency in internal medicine. She has served on a number of community councils and committees and held volunteer clinical faculty positions at both Baylor College of Medicine and The University of Texas-Health Science Center in Houston.
