Dai Chung, MD
Dai H. Chung, MD, received his medical degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch, where he also completed his general surgery residency. He completed his fellowship in pediatric general & thoracic surgery at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center and the University of Cincinnati. He also completed two NIH research fellowships at the Shriners Hospital for Children and UTMB. Dr. Chung is a tenured professor of surgery and chief of the pediatric general & thoracic surgery at UT Southwestern Medical Center. He is also a surgeon-in-chief and senior vice president of the pediatric surgical services at Children's Health. He is the director of the pediatric surgical research program. His clinical areas of expertise are pediatric trauma and burns, minimally invasive surgery and pediatric solid tumor. His research interests include pediatric solid tumors, cancer cell biology and intestinal homeostasis in shock. His particular research focus has been investigating small molecule targeted therapies against neuroblastoma. His work has been continuously funded by the NIH since 2003.
