Dev M Desai, MD, PhD, FACS
Dr. Desai is the Regents Distinguished Scholar in Medical Research and Professor of Surgery in the Division of Transplantation, Director of the transplant surgery fellowship and Chief of Pediatric Transplantation at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. Dr. Desai earned his medical and doctoral degrees from the Univ of California San Francisco, then completed his surgical residency and transplant surgery fellowship at Stanford University Medical Center. Dr. Desai was on faculty at Duke University for 5 years and served on a number of Region 11 UNOS committees during that time. He has been at UT Southwestern for 10 years and is the primary kidney transplant surgeon at Children’s Medical Center in Dallas.
Dr. Desai is a member of numerous professional organizations including the American Society of Transplant Surgeons, American College of Surgeons, International Pediatric Transplant Society and the American Board of Surgery. He has been actively involved in UNOS activities over the last 10 years having served on the pediatric committee, the liver regional review board and the ad hoc disease transmission committee.
