richard Wallace, Jr, Professor of Medicine, John Chapman professorship in Microbiology Chairman Dept of Microbiology Univer of Texas Health Science Center Tyler Texas
I am infectious disease and run a clinical and research laboratory that performs molecular identification, fingerprinting, susceptibility testing of nontuberculous mycobacteria which I have done for more than 30 years. I have published more than 350 papers, most of which deal with clinical and laboratory characteristics of nontuberculous mycobacterial species. I am a fellow of IDSA, the American College of Physicians, the American College of Chest Physicians, and the American Academy of Microbiology. My clinical and laboratory interests are susceptibility testing of current and new antimicrobial agents, molecular mechanisms of drug resistance, molecular fingerprinting of mycobacterial outbreaks, defining new pathogenic species, and exploring the role of genomic sequencing with these organisms.
