vQuality and Safety - Ensure and facilitate adherence to all hospital and university policies and procedures, code of ethics, The Joint Commission Standards in collaboration with nursing administration personnel. Perform and oversee environment of care rounding and clinical tracer activities;
vProcess Improvement – Utilize Change processes; collaborate with staff to develop and implement an effective action plan to improve performance in the department;
vMulti-disciplinary coordination of patient care and throughput targets;
vStaffing – Review schedule and staffing plan with other Department of Nursing personnel to ensure adequate coverage of patient needs. Interview and make final decision regarding hiring of all nursing personnel for unit; complete performance reviews and orientation evaluations of nursing personnel;
vPatient Satisfaction – ensure very good care delivery, participate in identification and resolution of provider, patient and/or family complaints through patient rounding;
vStaff Development – Plan and develop approximately 85 staff, plan staff meetings, providing immediate counseling and coaching regarding concerns, coordinate with nursing staff and educator to meet needs of current nursing personnel. Promote personal and professional growth of all nursing personnel;
vStaff Satisfaction – Increase NDNQI scores;
vBudget – input to develop and improve unit's annual capital and operational budgets.
