Jennifer Shannon, MD
Following in her family's footsteps, Dr. Shannon (formerly McNabb) graduated from the University of Minnesota both with a BS in Biochemistry and an MD. In a break from tradition, Dr. Shannon then trained in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Parkland Health and Hospital Systems, graduating in 2012. After a stint in general practice, both providing care, completing administrative duties, and acting as a clinical instructor for residents, she is now pursuing a fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility. Not a stranger to the lab, Dr. Shannon's desire is to integrate her interest in bench work with Dr. Bukulmez's interest to start an ovarian tissue cryopreservation program. Under the mentorship of Dr. Banaszynski in The Green Center, the goal of Dr. Shannon's research is to molecularly define follicular activation during the cryopreservation and transplantation process.
