Grew up in Kildare, Ireland and attended Medical School at Dublin University, Trinity College
Neurology residency followed by fellowships in Movement Disorders and Clinical Investigation at Mayo Clinic Rochester MN
Joined faculty of UT Southwestern in 1998 and currently professor
Primarily a clinician, in outpatient office, seeing patients with movement disorders i.e. Parkinson Disease, less common parkinsonian neurological degenerations, Huntington disease and other choreas, dystonia, tics, tremors and tardive syndromes.
Clinical research trials completed and ongoing in these conditions.
As a mentor in the colleges program, have longitudinal relationships with small groups of medical students, meeting weekly to develop clinical skills and professionalism.
Administrative responsibilities have included Program Director of the Neurology residency program; Medical Director of neurology clinics; chairing hospital neurology pharmacy committee; elected member of the Board and Executive Committee of the Board of the UTSW Medical Group
Completed an MBA with focus on health care at UT Dallas, and implemented a telemedicine program as part of the capstone project
