At present, he is a Professor Emeritus of Neurological Surgery. Since 2014 he has held a joint appointment in the Department of Neurosurgery at the Aarhus University Hospital in Denmark. He was instrumental in the formation of UT Southwestern’s Annette Strauss Center for Neuro Oncology in 1999, and served as its Director until his retirement from the full time faculty in 2021. His CV lists 84 peer-reviewed publications. Dr. Mickey’s clinical efforts are focused on the surgical management of benign and malignant intracranial tumors and on epilepsy surgery. For many years he has been recognized by his peers as a Best Doctor by D Magazine, a Top Doctor by U.S. News & World Report, and a Super Doctor by Texas Monthly.
