Jay Shah, MD
As a board certified orthopaedic surgeon with a thorough background in sports medicine, Jay P. Shah, M.D., brings a unique and dynamic perspective to the UT Southwestern orthopaedic surgery team. With expertise in arthroscopic and minimally invasive surgeries, Dr. Shah excels at providing fast and easy recoveries for patients with complex shoulder, elbow, hip, and knee issues. Having studied under some of the best sports physicians in the country, he helps athletes from all walks of life understand and maintain their bodies so they can get back in the game and feel great, on or off the court.
Fellowship trained in sports medicine, Dr. Shah is skilled in minimally invasive shoulder and knee surgery, cartilage preservation and ligament reconstruction, and other leading-edge surgical technologies and treatments. His familiarity with orthobiologics and stem cell treatments helps his patients experience less downtime than with traditional methods. His passion for patient care is rivaled only by his dedication to educating the next generation of doctors as an Assistant Professor at UT Southwestern.
Dr. Shah has served as an assistant team physician for the Houston Texans, Rockets, Astros, Dynamo and is currently is the head team physician for MacArthur High School, Irving High School, and UT Dallas athletics programs.
