Rachel Zettl, M.D., M.Ed.
Dr. Zettl is a current PGY-4 Psychiatry Resident at UT Southwestern. She grew up in rural Oklahoma and became passionate about health care disparities in rural and other underrepresented populations. She received her bachelor’s degree from Oklahoma City University, majoring in biology and secondary science education. While completing her undergraduate work she worked as an ABA therapist for children with autism spectrum disorder and found her second passion; working with individuals with autism and learning disabilities. After graduation she taught science at a local high school for four years, and completed her master’s degree in Applied Behavioral Studies at Oklahoma City University. She then attended the University of Oklahoma for medical school where she earned her medical doctorate. Following medical school, she began her psychiatry training here at the University of Texas Southwestern and plans to continue her training as a Child and Adolescent Fellow this upcoming year. She hopes to one day meld her two passions by providing rural mental health care with an emphasis in child and adults with intellectual delay and autism spectrum disorder.
