Ronald L. Blumoff, MD, MBA, FACS
Dr. Blumoff is Adjunct Clinical Professor of Healthcare Leadership and Management at the Jindal School of Management, University of Texas at Dallas and Adjunct Instructor in the Annette Caldwell Simmons School of Education & Human Development at Southern Methodist University. His role as a teacher/coach of present and developing executive leaders gives him the unique opportunity to impact the future of quality, affordable, and ethical medical care.
After graduating cum laude and AOA from St. Louis University Medical School, he completed general surgery residency and vascular surgery fellowship at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, where he was the Womack Scholar in Surgery. Following active duty as Chief of Surgery at the US Air Force Hospital at Tinker AFB, Oklahoma, Dr. Blumoff practiced clinical vascular surgery in San Antonio, Texas. His diverse leadership experiences include: Chief of Surgery, Chief of Staff, Executive Board Member, and Chief of Surgical Services for the Methodist Hospital System and Clinical Professor of Surgery at the University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio.
Dr. Blumoff holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from The University of Texas, San Antonio, an Executive Coaching Certificate for Southern Methodist University, and completed Mediation Training at The University of Texas School of Law. He currently teaches the following graduate courses: “Conflict in the Healthcare Workplace” at SMU, and “Negotiation and Conflict Management” and “Strategic Management of Healthcare Organizations” at the University of Texas, Dallas.
Dr. Blumoff has been an active member of the health care community for forty years. The combinations of demanding clinical surgery, leadership experiences, an MBA, practical business experience, and executive coaching training, has allowed him to pursue his current interests: coaching and teaching healthcare leaders in their journeys to reach their highest potentials, helping individuals and organizations to manage conflict productively, and creating meaningful and honest dialogue within organizations.
