Dr. Michelle Hsiang is an Assistant Professor in pediatric infectious diseases at the University of Texas, Southwestern with a research focus in malaria elimination epidemiology and clinical research. For the past ten years, she has been working in low transmission settings in southern Africa and Asia developing and evaluating novel diagnostic, surveillance, and drug-based strategies to support malaria elimination. The work has ranged from laboratory-based studies, to observational epidemiological studies, to cluster randomized controls. She is Associate Director of Operational Research with the Malaria Elimination Initiative at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), Global Health Group. Dr. Hsiang also holds appointments as Assistant Adjunct Professor in Pediatrics at UCSF and at University of Texas School of Public Health. Dr. Hsiang completed her undergraduate training at Stanford University.  She received her MD at Baylor College of Medicine, completed a residency in Pediatrics and fellowship in Pediatric Infectious Diseases at UCSF, and received a Masters in Epidemiology from London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.
