Jay Lohrey
Biography
John (Jay) Lohrey, M.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Hematology and Oncology in the Department of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern. He is Medical Director of Harold C. Simmons Comprehensive Cancer Center located at Moncrief Cancer Institute in Fort Worth.
Prior to joining UT Southwestern, Dr. Lohrey was a medical oncologist at the Tulsa Cancer Institute in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
He received his undergraduate degree in psychology from Evangel College and completed a master’s degree in clinical psychology at Fort Hays State University. Although his early goals steered him toward a career in marriage and family counseling, it was while pursuing his medical degree at the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine that he knew he’d found his niche.
During an oncology rotation, Dr. Lohrey realized his clinical psychology skills could be used to help cancer patients and families in the midst of medical crisis.
After completing a residency in internal medicine and pediatrics at the University of Oklahoma School of Community Medicine, Dr. Lohrey received advanced training in medical oncology through a fellowship at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center.
Dr. Lohrey is board certified in internal medicine and medical oncology.
Dr. Lohrey is a member of the Tarrant County Medical Society, Texas Medical Society, and the American Society of Clinical Oncology
He and his wife, Jenna, have a son and two daughters
