Dr. Kabir O. Olaniran is an Assistant Professor of Medicine and Nephrologist in the Division of Nephrology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. He is board certified in Internal Medicine and Nephrology.

Dr. Olaniran is a general nephrologist with a primary clinical and research interest in kidney disease in people with sickle cell disease and sickle cell trait. He earned his medical degree at the University of Lagos in Nigeria and practised in Nigeria for a year prior to moving to the United States where he completed an internal medicine residency at Lincoln Medical Center, affiliated with Weill Cornell Medicine, in New York City and served as chief medical resident. He subsequently received sub-specialty training at the Harvard Medical School joint Nephrology fellowship program at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts. He also holds a Master of Public Health degree from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. Dr. Olaniran was the recipient of the American Society of Nephrology Ben J. Lipps Fellowship grant, the American Society of Nephrology William E. Mitch International Scholars award, and the Massachusetts General Hospital Dennis A. Ausiello Outstanding Postdoctoral Fellow Award.

Dr. Olaniran is married with two children and in his spare time enjoys photography and traveling with his family.
