Edward L. Goodman, MD, was born and raised in Columbus, Ohio. After graduating from Bexley High School in 1960, he attended Cornell University in Ithaca, NY where he majored in Russian Literature and graduated Phi Beta Kappa in 1964. He then attended Cornell University Medical College in New York City where he graduated Alpha Omega Alpha in 1968. He did his residency in internal medicine at Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas, Texas where he was Chief Resident from 1970-1971. He then served in the United States Army at Fort Hood, Texas, as a Major in the Medical Corp. During his tour of duty, he served on the Nicaraguan Expeditionary Force during the devastating earthquake in Managua December 1972. Following military service he was a Fellow in Infectious Diseases at University of Texas Southwestern Medical School from 1973 to 1975. He then began practice of Infectious Disease at Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas until 2011 when he became Hospital Epidemiologist and Core Faculty until 2018. He presently serves as Core Faculty in the Internal Medicine Residency. He is Clinical Professor of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical School and Adjunct Faculty in the Infectious Disease Division. He has authored/co-authored 23 publications. His interests include Hospital Acquired Infections, Antibiotic Stewardship and Medical Education. He has been married for 51 years and is the father of two and grandfather of 7.Edward L.
