Azim Fatima, MD Board certified Psychiatrist in American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology
Dr. Azim Fatima is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. She received her Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery from Dow Medical College and completed her residency training at Meharry Medical College’s Department of Psychiatry in Nashville, Tennessee. Selected for her outstanding clinical and leadership skills, Dr. Fatima served as Chief Resident as a third-year resident. Dr. Fatima also received a Travel Fellowship award.
In October 2014, Dr. Fatima began working as a Psychiatrist with Emergency Psychiatric Medicine in Dallas, Texas. In addition to providing in-person emergency psychiatric care and inpatient psychiatric care for adolescents and adults, Dr. Fatima provides telepsychiatry consultations to multiple facilities in need of behavioral health physician services. Dr. Fatima serves as a medical director for Telepsychiatry and is passionate about providing the best of behavioral healthcare to patients via telemedicine.
Dr. Fatima is affiliated with the American Psychiatric Association and the American Medical Association. She coauthored “Textmania: Text Messaging During the Manic Phase of Bipolar 1 Disorder” published May 2012 in the Journal of Health Care for the Poor and Underserved and “Trauma experience of youngsters and teens: A key issue in suicidal behavior among victims of bullying?” published March 2014 by Pakistan Journal of Medical Sciences Online. Dr. Fatima is certified to prescribe suboxone.
Dr. Fatima’s interests include teaching and continuing education. She has delivered CME lectures on multiple topics related to mental health and Telepsychiatry. As a volunteer, Dr. Fatima has given lectures on mental health awareness in the local community and helped with emergency psychiatric evaluations of victims of Hurricane Harvey through Telepsychiatry.
In 2016, Dr. Fatima was named Green Oaks outstanding physician. Dr. Fatima is fluent in English and Urdu.
