Joseph Watso, PhD

I am currently a postdoctoral researcher in the Thermal and Vascular Physiology Laboratory at the Institute of Exercise and Environmental Medicine at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital with an appointment in the of the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. I conducted research in the Laboratory for Human Performance in the Department of Health and Sport Sciences at Salisbury University focusing on energy expenditure during various exercise modalities. My graduate research in the at the University of Delaware focused on blood pressure regulation at rest and during exercise in humans, particularly following a high salt diet or dehydration.Broadly, my research interests include better understanding the role of integrative strategies (e.g., exercise, nutrition, sleep, nutraceuticals, etc) to mitigate the consequences of aging, cardiometabolic disease(s), and environmental stressors (e.g., heat stress, air pollution, etc).
