Jacob Jones, MD
My educational journal began at Brigham Young University while I studied Neuroscience while also working as a teaching assistant for general chemistry. During this time, I became involved in a research lab studying infant development. I became the lab manager for this research lab overseeing the daily operations of the lab including adherence to study protocols and proper training of research personnel. While there, I was also a founding member and associate editor of an undergraduate neuroscience research journal. For this annual journal, I participated in reviewing and editing journal submissions and preparing the journal for publication.
I elected to attend a medical school that had a heavy-focused curriculum on problem-based learning as this allowed weekly opportunities for us medical students to teach one another various medical topics as a way of learning. From medical school to residency, my interests have evolved to focus on pediatric sports medicine. After completing a fellowship in sports medicine, I completed a unique sports medicine/MSK ultrasound fellowship at Boston Children’s Hospital and Harvard. As the capability ultrasound in the sports medicine field continues to grow, so has my interest in its research. One of our main objectives was to discover the ability of ultrasound to objectively evaluate hip microinstability has moved towards using ultrasound to evaluate conditions typically diagnosed by radiography or MRI. Now, I work as a pediatric sports medicine physician at Scottish Rite for Children.
