Dr. Dackiw is Professor of Surgery at UT Southwestern. He received his M.D. degree from the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.  He went on to do his General Surgery residency and PhD training at the University of Toronto followed by Surgical Oncology fellowship training at the University of Texas, M.D. Anderson Cancer Center and Endocrine Surgery fellowship training at the University of California San Francisco. He joined the surgical faculty at the University of Toronto, and was subsequently recruited to join the faculty at Johns Hopkins where he was Director of the Surgical Endocrinology Adrenal Tumor Clinic and Co- Director of the Johns Hopkins Thyroid and Parathyroid Tumor Center. He recently completed his MBA with a focus in Healthcare Management at the University of Texas in Dallas 

Dr. Dackiw has published over 150 articles, chapters, textbooks and abstracts and serves on the editorial board and as a reviewer for a number biomedical journal.
He has received awards from the American Association of Endocrine Surgeons and the Maryland General Assembly and serves on several institutional and national educational and practice committees.

His research investigations have included clinical studies in nerve monitoring in thyroid and parathyroid surgery and molecular investigations in endocrine neoplasia.  Dr.  Dackiw is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, is an internationally recognized expert in Endocrine Surgery, and has performed approximately three thousand operations on the adrenal, parathyroid, thyroid and pancreas.
