Hoa Vo, PhD
Hoa Vo, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at UT Southwestern Medical Center. She is a clinical research psychologist with specialty training in treating substance use disorders in adolescents and adults.
Dr. Vo earned her doctorate in clinical psychology at the University of Maryland, College Park. She completed an internship at the Spark M. Matsunaga VA Medical Center in Honolulu and then received advanced training in neurobehavioral research for addiction and patient care through separate fellowships at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio and the UNT Health Science Center in Fort Worth. In 2011, she served as a Fogarty International fellow and lived in Vietnam for a year where she conducted research and trained providers in substance use treatments.
Dr. Vo’s passion is to help reduce stigma and enhancing education and treatment outcomes for substance use disorders through research, education, and clinical venues. She has developed and implemented assertive community treatment models for youth and families with substance use disorders. She serves on the board of directors for Colorful World Foundation to help increase the visibility of mental health needs by providing psychoeducation for ethnic communities in the Dallas-Fort Worth area as well as spends time making videos for her YouTube channel to provide educational materials to the Vietnamese community.
