Meagan Whitney, MD
Meagan Whitney is a clinical instructor of psychiatry at UT Southwestern Department of Psychiatry and works in the Psychiatric Emergency Department at Parkland Memorial Hospital She attended medical school at University of Kentucky College of medicine before completing residency training at UT Southwestern. During residency she was a part of the Clinician Educator Track and developed seminars and lectures for medical students and residents. In her last year she served as chief resident of the psychiatry program. Since early in residency she has done research on psychiatrists' comfort with assessing patient gun access and barriers to routine screening. She is interested in working to increase mental health providers' comfort with counseling patients about gun safety through training.
