Liisa Bergmann, MD, MBA is an Assistant Professor of Radiology in the Cardiothoracic Imaging Division at University of Texas at Southwestern, where she is also Associate Faculty in Biomedical Engineering.  She is a proud 2020 graduate of the University of Wisconsin's Clinical MRI Fellowship and the Wisconsin School of Business's Executive MBA program. In her first 9 months as faculty, in addition to teaching and de novo reporting, Dr. Bergmann has been published in Abdominal Radiology, co-authored and submitted a review of imaging acute aortic syndrome with Brad Allen, MD, MS, represented her division on the Clements University Hospital PACS Selection Committee, and contributed to the departmental Diversity Collaborative and to the new UTSW Working Parent Business Resource Group. Her nascent research projects are in non-invasive determination of intraventricular pressure volume loops, and MRA and ASL for pulmonary embolism.  Dr. Bergmann has mentored her current Cardiothoracic Radiology fellows, Arzu Canan and Jorge Taboada, in an educational presentation on imaging features of aortitis and in a journal club presentation on MRA for PE, respectively. She is currently mentoring an R1, Dustin Boyd, in 3D printing of the X-Clometer and its use in portable chest radiographs, in a multi-institution, multi-disciplinary collaboration mentored by Thoracic Radiologist Dr. Les Folio at the NIH. In her spare time, Dr. Bergmann swims with Jim Montgomery Masters, and enjoys photography, cooking, writing and time with her family. She is grateful for all the support she has received from colleagues, trainees, technicians and administration as well as from her family and friends, new and old – she couldn’t have moved across the country and started her first faculty position during this unprecedented pandemic without y’all!
