David Gerber, MD
David E. Gerber, M.D. is a Professor of Internal Medicine and Clinical Sciences at UT Southwestern Medical Center. He received his medical degree from Cornell University Medical College and completed a residency in Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center. He completed a fellowship in medical oncology at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. He joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2007.
Dr. Gerber’s research in lung cancer has generated over 120 peer-reviewed publications. He has also written two books and more than a dozen book chapters on the topic. He has received research grants from the American Cancer Society, the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas, the Department of Defense, and the National Cancer Institute.
Within the Harold C. Simmons Comprehensive Cancer Center at UT Southwestern, Dr. Gerber serves as Associate Director for Clinical Research and as Co-Leader of the Experimental Therapeutics Scientific Program. He is an active member of the Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group Thoracic Committee. He also served on the editorial board of the Journal of Clinical Oncology, as an associate scientific advisor for Science Translational Medicine, and as a grant reviewer for the Department of Defense, the American Cancer Society, and the Conquer Cancer Foundation of the American Society of Clinical Oncology.
