Judy Yee, MD, FACR
Judy Yee, MD, FACR is the University Chair of Radiology at Montefiore Medical Center and Professor of Radiology at Albert Einstein College of Medicine.
Dr. Yee received her medical degree from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, and completed a residency in Radiology at Einstein. She performed an abdominal imaging fellowship at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) Medical Center and was then recruited to stay on as faculty. During her tenure at UCSF, Dr. Yee became Professor of Radiology and Biomedical Imaging and Vice Chair of Radiology. She also served as the Chief of Radiology at the San Francisco VA Medical Center and Vice Chair of the Board of the Northern California Institute for Research and Education.
Dr. Yee is widely known as an accomplished abdominal radiologist with a research focus on CT Colonography as well as liver and pancreatic imaging. She has performed multiple landmark studies and is widely considered a pioneer in the field of CT Colonography which is now used for colorectal cancer screening and diagnosis around the world. Dr. Yee has published extensively, having produced more than 140 articles in peer-reviewed scientific journals, with another 130 abstracts and she has served as the principal investigator for many funded research projects. She has published 24 book chapters. Dr. Yee is the editor and primary author of Virtual Colonoscopy, which is one of the main textbooks on the topic. She holds a patent on Enhanced Virtual Colonoscopy.
Dr. Yee is an experienced leader and holds leadership positions in major radiology organizations. She served on the Board of the Society of Abdominal Radiology (SAR) and was the President of SAR from 2015-2016. She currently serves as a member of the Board of Directors for the Association of University Radiologists (AUR) and is Chair of ACR Colon Cancer Committee. She is a Founding Member of the Colon Cancer Foundation Medical Advisory Council. She is a member of the Global Radiology Leaders Board for Health4The World which brings educational opportunities to underserved populations around the world. She is a member of the Board and Co-Chair of the Diversity and Inclusion Committee for the New York State Radiologic Society and a member of the Committee on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion for RSNA. She is an Associate Editor of JCAT and on the Editorial Board of Abdominal Radiology and has served previously on the Editorial Boards of Radiology, AJR and RadioGraphics. She is a fellow of the American College of Radiology, the Society of Abdominal Radiology and the Society of Advanced Body Imaging. Dr. Yee is a well-respected leader and educator. She is a well-received invited speaker on topics related to abdominal imaging and leadership. She is the recipient of multiple awards including the Excellence in Teaching Award from the Academy of Medical Educators, the Visiting Professorship Award from the Society of Abdominal Radiology, and the Best Speaker Award of the American Roentgen Ray Society. She was the recipient of the Inaugural UCSF Outstanding Faculty Mentoring Award. In 2019 she received the Honorary Fellow Award of the European Society of Gastrointestinal and Abdominal Radiology (ESGAR) in recognition of her global contributions to the field. Dr. Yee is the first woman to receive this honor in the 30 year history of ESGAR.
