Jane Scott, B.A.

Jane Scott is the Manager of Digital Services and Technology Planning at the UT Southwestern Health Sciences Digital Library and Learning Center in Dallas, TX. She supervises a 2-person technical unit, which focuses on the Digital Library’s internal and external web presence, as well as collection development and maintenance. She chairs the Library’s Web Content Team and serves on the Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion and Library Events and Exhibits committees. She is part of the campus's Sustainability Committee. She was the Library’s Design and Promotional Specialist for 6 years before moving into Library management 7 years ago. She is a frequently requested campus instructor/presenter on academic poster design, Camtasia, ORCID implementation, and 3D printing.
In April 2016, she co-authored an article on 3D printing in medical libraries for MLA News. The social media policy she researched and created on behalf of the UT Southwestern Library was one of the first on campus and is cited in The Librarian’s Nitty-Gritty Guide to Social Media (ALA Editions, 2012) by Laura Solomon as a best practice model. Her occupational passion is finding common ground in which to build user-friendly infrastructure that encourages interaction, accountability, sustainability, and ease of use for all.
Scott is a UT Southwestern PACT Service Award recipient with accolades from campus departments for her collaborative efforts. She has received awards for marketing, logo design, and pragmatic innovation. She is an active member of the UT Southwestern Sustainability Committee and assisted in creating the campus Online Campus Supply Swap Board. She is the Chair for the D/FW HealthLINE professional organization and recently presented a session on building productive work relationships with library staff at the 4th Annual Library Marketing and Communications Conference in St. Louis, MO. She also conducted a day long workshop for North Carolina libraries on the same topic.
Scott received a BA in Politics and Society in June 1995 from the University of California, Irvine. She attended Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, completing coursework in the Educational Administration in Higher Education MS Ed program from 1997 to 1999. She completed her Multimedia Developer Certificate from Richland College in December 2008.
