Dr. Sachs is Director of Student Academic Support Services and Clinical Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at UT Southwestern.

She received her Ph.D. in learning disabilities, reading and assessment from Vanderbilt University. In addition, she received a Masters in Reading and Masters in Early Childhood Education from George Peabody College of Vanderbilt University. Upon completing these degrees, she joined the faculty at The University of Texas at Dallas in the School of Brain and Behavioral Sciences. In addition, Dr. Sachs is a certified College Admission counselor.

While on faculty at The University of Texas at Dallas, Dr. Sachs conducted and published research focused on effective reading and writing strategies for students with learning differences. She also taught undergraduate and graduate courses in literacy, learning disabilities, psycho-educational assessment, cognitive development, and critical thinking.

Since beginning her private practice in 1985, Dr. Sachs has counseled parents and worked with students to enrich and enhance their educational development from early childhood through adulthood. In 2007, Dr. Sachs founded Academic Bridges, Inc. to offer families in-home academic assistance.
