Jasmin Tiro, PhD
Trained in behavioral sciences and public health, Dr. Jasmin Tiro is a professor at UT Southwestern and Associate Director for Community Outreach, Engagement, and Equity at the Harold C. Simmons Comprehensive Cancer Center. In collaboration with Parkland Health and Hospital System and Dr. Austin Baldwin (SMU), she has designed, implemented, and evaluated interventions to address HPV vaccine hesitancy and improve decision-making/behavior. This research partnership was recognized in 2017 by the Texas Hospital Association's Bill Aston Award for Quality.
Currently, Dr. Tiro leads the Cervical Screening Research Center of the National Cancer Institute’s PROSPR Consortium (UM1CA221940) to understand and optimize delivery of the cervical cancer screening process. With colleagues at University of Washington and Kaiser Permanente Washington Research Institute, Dr. Tiro is collaborating on a large, pragmatic randomized controlled intervention trial of a mailed HPV self-screening kit to increase screening rates (R01CA240375). She is committed toward disseminating behavioral interventions aimed at ending cancer disparities.
