Personal
Dr. Meyer often discusses his personal experience with the healthcare system and is a strong advocate for treating the patient as a whole person, not just treating the disease itself. His wife’s cancer diagnosis in 2000 changed both his personal and professional perspectives. Before her diagnosis, he says, he did not realize how much a physician’s approach can either add to or help alleviate patients’ and families’ stress and anxiety. This experience transformed him as a healthcare leader, changing how he practices medicine, educates future physicians, and leads patient care delivery at Jefferson Health.
He and his wife Christie have seven children, and Dr. Meyer is a trained Shakespearean actor. They live in Villanova, PA.
