Timothy Proctor, Timothy J. Proctor, Ph.D., ABPP
Dr. Proctor received his B.A. in psychology from Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas and his Ph.D. in clinical psychology from The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas. His American Psychological Association-approved pre-doctoral internship included one year at the Federal Medical Center – Carswell, a Federal Bureau of Prisons facility, where he conducted forensic psychological evaluations for the federal court system. He is fellowship trained in forensic psychology from the University of Southern California Keck School of Medicine – Institute of Psychiatry and Law. During his fellowship, he conducted forensic psychological evaluations for the Los Angeles County courts and provided psychological services at the Los Angeles County Jail. Dr. Proctor’s primary license is as a psychologist in the State of Texas. He is also a Licensed Sex Offender Treatment Provider. He is board certified in forensic psychology by the American Board of Professional Psychology and is a fellow of the American Academy of Forensic Psychology.
Dr. Proctor is in private practice at Price Proctor. A significant component of Dr. Proctor’s practice is conducting forensic psychological evaluations for the criminal courts. This includes incompetency to stand trial, insanity, and risk assessment evaluations as well as the assessment of alleged intellectual disability in death penalty cases. In addition to his work with the criminal courts, Dr. Proctor conducts a variety of psychological evaluations for civil courts. This includes personal injury evaluations as well as evaluations of sex offenders being considered for civil commitment pursuant to the Texas Sexually Violent Predator Act. He also conducts pre-employment and fitness for duty evaluations for many of the police and fire departments in the North Texas area. With respect to academic appointments, Dr. Proctor is a clinical associate professor at The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, where he teaches/supervises doctoral graduate students, and is on the forensic psychiatry fellowship faculty. Institutions where Dr. Proctor previously maintained faculty appointments include the University of Southern California Keck School of Medicine – Institute of Psychiatry and Law and California State University – Los Angeles.
