Personal Statement:
As a clinical social worker III for the Division of Geriatrics in the Department of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern, I am committed to clinical training and education. I am a member of the working group on our Reynolds SAGE Next Steps geriatric education grant to enhance the inter-professional geriatrics curriculum. I have facilitated sensitivity training at community based facilities with both medical and allied healthcare students. I’ve developed social work assessments and interventions for case studies for the purpose of training both medical and health professions students. I have also participated as a trainer/educator for the UT PACT program, a UT System initiative to develop an innovative approach to medical education by partnering undergraduate institutions and medical schools. I have also been a facilitator for the Chief Resident immersion Training (CRIT) program since its inception. I continue to present lectures both within and outside the institution. I provide case management and chronic care management within the clinical framework of my role in both the outpatient and house call settings.
