Ami Waters, MD, MPH

Dr. Ami Waters received her undergraduate degree in Molecular and Cellular Biology from Vanderbilt University and then returned to Texas for her medical degree at UT Health Science Center at San Antonio School of Medicine. She completed her training in Internal Medicine-Pediatrics at Baylor College of Medicine in 2014. Dr. Waters pursued further training in Global Health from 2014-2016 through the UCSF Global Health Hospitalist/ Health Equity, Action and Leadership (HEAL) fellowship and an MPH at University of California, Berkeley. As a part of this fellowship, she spent 6 months of each year working in rural Liberia with Last Mile Health, a non-governmental organization dedicated to ensuring health access to those in remote communities. Upon completion of the fellowship, Dr. Waters joined the Last Mile Health team as medical director and continues to support the efforts of Last Mile Health and the Liberian Ministry of Health to ensure a health worker for everyone, everywhere, every day. In addition, Dr. Waters is an Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine and Pediatrics at University of Texas Southwestern in Dallas, Texas, where she cares for patients of all ages and teaches medical trainees at both Parkland Hospital and Children’s Medical Center.
