Melissa Bellomy, MD
Dr. Bellomy grew up in Arlington, TX. After graduating high school, she attended Seton Hall University in New Jersey on a Division 1 Volleyball scholarship. She graduated summa cum laude with a B.S. in Biochemistry and minors in Vocal Performance and Latin. During her time at Seton Hall, Dr. Bellomy received multiple academic and athletic achievement awards. She then attended Harvard Medical School in Boston, then completed an Anesthesiology Residency at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. She was selected as a Frist Global Health Scholar for teaching KRNA students in Kijabe, Kenya as part of the "Vanderbilt International Anesthesia" program and also. served as Chief Resident and Rotation Director for June Intern Bootcamp at Vanderbilt. Following residency, Dr. Bellomy completed fellowships in Critical Care Medicine and Adult Cardiothoracic Anesthesiology at Vanderbilt prior to coming home to Dallas in August 2020, where she is now an Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine at UTSW. Dr. Bellomy is a member of the Cardiothoracic Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine divisions here and serves as the Residency Rotation Director for Cardiothoracic Anesthesia. She has a passion for education and has clinical interests in right ventricular failure, mechanical circulatory support, and coagulopathy. Outside of medicine, Dr. Bellomy enjoys spending time with her family in DFW, riding her Peloton, being outside, and drinking + learning about wine.
