Mamta K. Jain was recently promoted to Professor of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center. Dr. received her medical training and completed her residency at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. She came to UT Southwestern to pursue an Infectious Disease Fellowship. She also obtained a Masters in Public Health through the University of  Texas at Houston, Dallas Branch and also received additional training in hepatology research.

Dr. Jain joined the faculty at UT Southwestern as Assistant Professor in 2005. She serves as the Medical Director of the UT Southwestern Infectious Diseases Research Unit. She also served as the Medical Director of Parkland HIV services from 2009-2015 and stepped down in order to focus on research.  She has been named Best Doctors by D Magazine.  She has been a clinical investigator for over 15 years. She has been the principal investigator of over 50 clinical trials in HIV, hepatitis C, and more recently in influenza.  More recently, she has focused on how to eradicate hepatitis C and spearheaded a program at Parkland Hospital to screen baby boomers for HCV and link them to HCV treatment. She has also developed a program in the HIV clinic to train HIV providers to treat hepatitis C. She also conducts clinical trials to examine new therapeutics for Covid-19.Dr. Jain has received funding from NIH, CPRIT, and other pharmaceutical companies.  Dr. Jain has authored or co-authored over 100 publications. She is also a member of IDSA, Standard and Practice Guideline Committee and has been involved in guideline development for hepatitis B and HIV primary care. She is also member of HIVMA Board of Directors. Dr. Jain is also on the IDSA panel for COVID-19 Infection Prevention.
