This periodic series will provide learners with knowledge and skills to diagnose and manage active children and adolescents with injuries and conditions affecting their ability to participate in activities and sports.
Target Audience
Physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, athletic trainers and other health care professionals who care for sport-related conditions and injuries should attend to improve their ability to counsel patients and families as well as prevent and care for these conditions.
Learning Objectives
- Describe the benefits of adaptive and Para sports for youth athletes with disabilities.
- Utilize current terminology when discussing adaptive and Para sports.
- Discuss the purpose and basics of how classification works in competitive Para sports.
- Describe progress made in participation over the last decade and potential future directions of adaptive and Para sports.
- Discuss ways to Introduce patients with disabilities to new ideas and resources for participating in sports.
