Becket Gremmels, PhD
Becket Gremmels is the System Vice President for Theology and Ethics at CommonSpirit Health. He has been with CommonSpirit since April of 2020. He came to CommonSpirit from CHRISTUS Health based in Irving, Texas, where he was the System Director of Ethics, and before that he was a clinical ethicist with Saint Thomas Health in Nashville and Saint Vincent’s Health Services in Birmingham, both a part of Ascension Health.
Becket has a bachelor's degree in philosophy from the University of Notre Dame and a PhD in Health Care Ethics from Saint Louis University. He completed a Fellowship in Clinical Ethics at Saint Thomas West Hospital in Nashville. He wrote his dissertation on the moral limits of gene therapy. He has written articles in AMA Journal of Ethics, CHEST, Christian Bioethics, Ethics & Medics, Health Care Ethics USA, Health Progress, Narrative Inquiry in Bioethics, National Catholic Bioethics Quarterly, and Journal of Moral Theology. He and his wife Saira live in Texas with their four kids, ages 11 to 1.
