Chunyu Cai, Assistant Professor
Dr. Cai is a practicing neuropathologist and an associate professor in the Pathology Department at UT Southwestern Medical Center, Dallas, TX. He completed his medical degree in 2001 from Beijing Medical University, Beijing, China, PhD degree in 2008 from Wesleyan University, Middletown, CT, and pathology residency and fellowship training in 2015 at Washington University School of Medicine, St Louis, MO.
Dr. Cai is the director of neuromuscular pathology service at UT Southwestern Medical Center, Dallas, TX, which is the largest referring center for muscle and nerve biopsies in Texas and receives biopsies specimens from over 100 institutions over a 6-state area. Dr. Cai has clinical expertise in the pathologic diagnosis of neuromuscular diseases, brain tumors, and brain autopsies. HIs current research focuses on the development of novel immunohistochemical tools to improve the diagnostic yield of muscle and nerve biopsies, and on mechanism and new therapeutic approaches for meniningioma with radiorefractory progression.
