Kenneth Kim

Kenneth H. Kim, MD, MHPE is a Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, the Board of Governors Endowed Chair in Gynecologic Oncology, the Chief of the Division of Gynecologic Oncology, as well as the Fellowship Training Program Director at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. He is the Director for Multispecialty Robotic Training and Education and the Chair of the Robotic Steering Committee at Cedars-Sinai. In the Cedars-Sinai Cancer Center, he also serves as Chair of the Committee for Advisement for Training and Education (COATE) as well as the Chair for the Cancer Surgical Specialties Council (CSCSS).
Dr. Kim received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Swarthmore College in 2001, and MD from Medical College of Ohio in 2005. Dr. Kim completed his internship and residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at The Ohio State University in 2009 and his fellowship in Gynecologic Oncology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 2012. He was then recruited to the University of North Carolina as Assistant Professor in the Division of Gynecologic Oncology where he served as Associate OB/GYN Residency Program Director. He was recruited back to the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 2016 where he served as an Associate Professor and Associate Program Director of the Gynecologic Oncology Fellowship, a Scientist in Experimental Therapeutics in O’Neal Comprehensive Cancer Center, and the Director for Multispecialty Robotic Surgical Education and Training across all surgical departments. While there, he completed his Master’s Degree in Health Professions Education from the University of Cincinnati in 2018. He is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and Gynecologic Oncology.
Dr. Kim has chaired and directed multiple national and international educational, surgical, robotic, leadership, and physician wellness courses through various professional societies and boards. He is honored to be a frequent invited speaker to multiple international society meetings and courses. He has multiple national leadership roles including in the Society of the Gynecology Oncology (SGO) where he recently served as the Scientific Program Chair for the 51st Annual Meeting on Women’s Cancer, Chair of the Education Committee, Cabinet Member of the SGO Executive Cabinet, Chair of the SGO Wellness Committee, and the Program Directors Committee. He has previously served on the SGO Board of Directors.
In addition, Dr. Kim has served on several committees for the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ACOG) and the Council on Resident Education in Obstetrics and Gynecology (CREOG), including Chair of CREOG Surgical Curriculum Task Force, CREOG Surgical Curriculum Task Force, the CREOG Education Committee, and the PROLOG: Gynecologic Oncology and Critical Care Task Force. He has been an active member of the Scientific Program Committee for the ACOG Annual Clinical and Scientific Meeting and is the Scientific Program Chair-Elect. He recently completed his term on the Gynecology Advisory Council for the American College of Surgeons (ACS). In addition, Dr. Kim currently serves as a Board Examiner for the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG), and also serves on several ABOG committees. He has previously served on the ABOG Foundation for Exxcellence Board of Directors, chairing multiple national courses and committees. He has most recently been involved with implementing multiple novel innovations and technologies in competency- and evidenced-based surgical curricula both nationally as well as abroad in Europe and Asia at the society level.
