Carol Bjorkman, MS, APRN, FNP-C
Carol is a board certified Family Nurse Practitioner at UT Southwestern Medical Center. She is credentialed through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1980 and her Master of Science from Texas Woman’s University in Dallas in 2006.
Since becoming a nurse practitioner, Carol has worked in the cardiology arena, working in a private cardiology practice in Plano, Texas where she focused primarily on the care of patients with heart failure, an EECP (enhanced external counterpulsation therapy) clinic in Dallas, followed by her current job in the Heart Transplant Clinic at UT Southwestern Medical Center. She is passionate about assisting her patients in management of their post-transplant course, attaining a high level of functioning with the gift of their transplanted organ.
Carol has served as a board member of the North Texas Nurse Practitioners and is currently an active member of Texas Nurse Practitioners, the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, American Association of Heart Failure Nurses and the International Society for Heart and Lung Transplantation. She has attained certification by the American Association of Heart Failure Nurses as a CHFN (certified heart failure nurse). She is a preceptor for APP students, a mentor for APPs, and serves on the APP lecture series committee.
