Ravi Joshi, Medical Doctor (M.D.) , Fellow of the American Society of Echocardiography (FASE)
Dr. Ravi Joshi, M.D., FASE, is a Professor in the Department of Anesthesiology and Pain Management at UT Southwestern Medical Center. He specializes in cardiothoracic and vascular anesthesiology with special emphasis on perioperative echocardiography, coagulation, and extracorporeal circulation. Dr. Joshi earned his medical degree, magna cum laude, at Harvard Medical School with special honors in the field of physical biochemistry. He completed a residency in anesthesiology and critical care at Massachusetts General Hospital and received advanced training in cardiothoracic anesthesiology through a fellowship at Emory University Hospital. Certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology in Anesthesiology and Cardiac Anesthesiology. He is also certified in Advanced Perioperative Echocardiography by the National Board of Echocardiography. Dr. Joshi served as an Assistant Professor in Anesthesiology at the University of California, San Francisco, before joining the UT Southwestern faculty in 2013. Dr. Joshi is a Fellow of the American Society of Echocardiography and a member of several other professional organizations, including the American Society of Anesthesiology, the Society of Cardiovascular Anesthesiologists, and the American Society of Echocardiography. He has delivered scores of presentations on intraoperative ultrasound and echocardiography, contributed chapters to several popular textbooks on cardiology, echocardiography and cardiac anesthesiology, and published a number of academic articles. He is also the founder of department workshop in Point-of-Care Ultrasound for faculty, residents, and medical students, and current director of the Department of Anesthesiology Echocardiography CME course. In 2018, Dr. Joshi earned the Fellowship Faculty Teaching Award in cardiothoracic anesthesiology from UT Southwestern. Among his other roles at UTSW, he serves as Director of the Cardiothoracic Anesthesiology Fellowship program.
