- Dr. Abu-Hijleh graduated from Jordan University in 1995
- This was followed by Internal Medicine residency and fellowship in Pulmonary and Critical Care medicine at Brown University- The Alpert Medical School
- Joined the Pulmonary and Critical Care division at UT Southwestern Medical Center in 2011
- Clinical and research interests include Interventional Pulmonology, advanced COPD, pleural disease and all related advanced diagnostic and therapeutic pulmonary procedures
- Teaching of pulmonary and critical care fellows, internal medicine residents ad medical students during rotations on the pulmonary consultation service at CUH, in the pulmonary specialty clinic, medical intensive care unit, and in the Interventional Pulmonary procedures unit
