Alan Chiu, MD
Alan Simon Chiu, M.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center. He specializes in palliative care, advance care planning, health care disparities, effective communication between providers and patients, bioethics, and health informatics.
Dr. Chiu earned his medical degree at Jefferson Medical College. He completed a residency in internal medicine at the University of Maryland and received advanced training in hospice and palliative care medicine through a fellowship at the University of California San Diego and Scripps Health.
Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine, he joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2020.
Dr. Chiu is a member of the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine, the American College of Physicians, the Center to Advance Palliative Care, and the Gold Humanism Honor Society.
He has delivered numerous presentations related to his areas of expertise.
