Brooks Brodrick, MD, PhD
Dr. Brodrick is originally from California. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Texas at Austin in microbiology. She earned a combined medical degree and doctorate in pharmacology from University of Virginia in Charlottesville. Her doctoral research led to the identification of key signaling pathways involved in intestinal epithelial cell differentiation. She completed her residency training in Internal Medicine and fellowship training in General Internal Medicine at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. Dr. Brodrick’s clinical interests are in the medical complications of eating disorders. Her research focuses on examining microbiota-gut-brain axis in eating disorders. Leveraging metagenomics, metabolomics, and functional immunophenotyping, she is working to identify perturbations in microbiota-host interactions which correlate with eating disorder symptoms and behaviors. In her free time, she enjoys exploring the outdoors with her rescue dogs, Rocky and Hazel, and cheering on her two favorite sports teams, Virginia Cavaliers and Texas Longhorns.
