Christine Hooker, Christine I. Hooker, PhD, Stanley G. Harris, Sr. Professor of Psychiatry, Rush University Medical Center
Dr. Christine I. Hooker received her Ph.D. in clinical psychology from Northwestern University and worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow and, later, a Research Professor in the Neuroscience Institute at UC Berkeley. In 2007, she joined the faculty at Harvard University where she was an Associate Professor in the Psychology Department. Dr. Hooker moved to Rush University Medical School in 2015 as the Stanley Harris Sr. Professor of Psychiatry with a joint appointment in the Department of Diagnostic Radiology. Her research uses neuroimaging techniques, such as functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (fMRI), to investigate neural mechanisms of cognitive and social functioning in individuals at risk for or suffering from various forms of mental illness, particularly schizophrenia. Her current research is focused on developing interventions that improve mental health by promoting neuroplasticity in dysfunctional brain systems. Dr. Hooker’s work is supported by the National Institute of Health, Institute for Educational Sciences, Brain & Behavior Research Foundation and other organizations.
