Vivek Kalia, MD, MPH, MS
Vivek Kalia, MD, is the Medical Director of Radiology and a staff radiologist at Scottish Rite for Children. He received his medical degree from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and Master’s in Public Health at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. He completed his Diagnostic Radiology Residency at the University of Vermont Medical Center (Burlington, Vermont) and his Musculoskeletal Radiology Fellowship at the Hospital for Special Surgery (New York, New York). He served as a full-time musculoskeletal radiologist at the University of Michigan Health System for five years prior to coming to Dallas, TX to join us at Scottish Rite in January 2022.
Dr. Kalia is very involved in professional radiology and orthopaedic societies, including the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA), Society of Skeletal Radiology (SSR), American College of Radiology (ACR), American Roentgen Ray Society (ARRS), European Society of Radiology (ESR), American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS), and the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine (AOSSM). He regularly presents his work at many these societies’ annual meetings and has published widely in the radiologic and orthopaedic literature. Dr. Kalia serves as Chair of the Social Media Ad Hoc Committee for the SSR and on the Editorial Board as Associate Editor of Social Media for the journal Radiology: Imaging Cancer. He also performs manuscript review for several leading radiology journals.
Dr. Kalia is very active in academic research and writing. He has authored four book chapters to date and specializes in sports imaging, the patellofemoral joint, femoroacetabular impingement, and cartilage imaging. His varied interests also include leadership, epidemiology and biostatistics, and public health – specifically, providing radiology services in under-resourced settings.
