Robert Rege, MD
Dr. Rege is currently the Associate Dean for Undergraduate Medical Education, Director of Continuing Medical Education and a Professor of Surgery at UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas. Formerly the Chair of Surgery from April 2001 until October 2013, Dr. Rege continues his clinical practice in surgery, with a particular interest in gastrointestinal and advanced laparoscopic. He received his M.D. from Hershey Medical School, Pennsylvania State University in 1975, and remained there his surgical training. Following residency, Dr. Rege completed a 1-year fellowship in gastrointestinal research at Northwestern University and remained on faculty there from 1983 to 1998. He was recruited to Dallas in 1998 where his expertise was instrumental in development of educational programs of the Southwestern Center for Minimally Invasive Surgery, one of the first seven ACS Accredited Education Institutes. He has been involved with the ACS program to establish accredited educational programs since its inception and currently chairs the accreditation committee for the College.
