Leonard Egede, MD, MS
Dr. Egede is a general internist and health services researcher, Professor of Medicine, Chief of the Division of General Internal Medicine, Director of the Center for Advancing Population Science, Inaugural Milwaukee Community Chair in Health Equity Research, Director of the CTSI KL2 Program, and Director of the CTSI Master’s in Clinical/Translational Research at the Medical College of Wisconsin. He is currently the Principal Investigator for three National Institutes of Health (NIH) R01s (R01 DK118038, R01 DK120861, R01 MD013826), an NIH/National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences [NCATS] KL2 program (KL2TR001438), and an NIH R21 (R21 TW01153). He has expertise in a range of research methodologies, including clinical trials methodology, qualitative research methodology, community-based participatory research methodology, behavioral intervention methodology, and implementation science approaches. He has published more than 420 peer-reviewed manuscripts related to health disparities, psychosocial risk factors, the cost of healthcare, and social determinants of health and has served on multiple NIH, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and Department of Veterans Affairs study sections focused on psychosocial risk, health services, behavioral research, and implementation science.
